MAIN TASKS
Align purchasing actions in Europe/Global within his/her commodities responsibility (castings & forged parts), in order to fully exploit corporate-level synergy actions.
Develop Commodity Strategies, a commonly accepted guideline, based on analysis of needs, current position, supply market and via understanding regional/global cost drivers
Ensure the implementation of the Commodity Strategy, drive (in functional link) the purchasing teams’ actions of his/her commodity
Analyze supply market / identify new sources / contribute in qualify and onboard new suppliers, negotiate and close company contracts, ensure contract coverages
Manage Suppliers: carry out supplier assessments, risk assessment, business review- and negotiation plans, ensure execution of adequate implementation actions
Monitor Performance and implement efficiency measures, Delivery Reliability and Quality
Regular alignment with Supplier Quality development, Regional Governance Team, Value Engineering, Locations, Purchasing Managers and strategic buyers in order to drive implementations and improvement of the commodity
Drive cost improvement actions with the suppliers as well as with several Rail Locations
REQUIREMENTS
A degree in a technical and/ or economical discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering) or strong technical experience
Solid, 5+ years experience in Strategic Purchasing or Commodity Management of casted or forged metallic components. Additional industrial / technical experience, focusing on machining technologies is an advantage
Full determination and ability to autonomously work in cross-functional and in cross-locational teams, and to drive actions till full implementation
International experience in mid-size or big multinationals
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
Fluent negotiation skills in English. In addition, German is an advantage
SAP experience is not a must but an advantage
