NIX, a global supplier of software engineering and IT outsourcing services, is looking for a Scala Data Specialist (Medior/Senior) in its office in Budapest (Vaci Greens, 13th district). You’ll be part of a team of professionals who are ready to find the best tailor-made IT solutions for their multinational clients in various industries and solve complex problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain scalable applications using Scala and Java to support data collection, processing and analysis.
• Design, implement, and manage AWS services to build and maintain a robust data warehouse infrastructure.
• Handle data storage solutions using MongoDB and Snowflake for efficient data management.
• Utilize Apache Spark for large-scale data processing and analytics.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, data science, analysts) to define, design, and ship new features that enhance our data capabilities.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, fix bugs and ensure high-quality data pipelines.
• Develop and deliver reports tailored to the needs of different user groups within the platform (e.g., students, instructors, administrators).
• Work within an Agile methodology, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups and code reviews.
• Contribute to maintaining code quality and code organization.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

• English level B2+.
• Years of commercial experience 3+.
• Proven experience in Scala and Java development.
• Strong expertise in AWS, with practical experience in deploying and managing services.
• Proficient in working with MongoDB and Snowflake databases.
• Extensive experience with Apache Spark for data processing.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactiveness in seeking and implementing better approaches and solutions to optimize data processing, storage, and analysis.

WILL BE A PLUS:

• Previous experience in LMS or educational technology projects.
• Familiarity with other data processing and analytics tools.
• Knowledge of software development best practices and methodologies.
