Develop and implement tools and methodologies for mapping carbon emissions across the raw material supplier chain, from tier-1 to tier-n suppliers
Collect, analyze, and validate carbon emission data from suppliers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Identify key hotspots and high-impact areas across the supply chain, such as energy-intensive processes, transportation, and other emission sources
Identify and assess decarbonization levers, including process improvements, renewable energy adoption, material substitutions, and efficiency improvements, collaborate with Sanofi and suppliers cross-functional teams to develop decarbonization strategies aligned with Sanofi sustainability goals and industry standards while sizing and quantify the impact and costs of decarbonization initiatives, creating a “should-cost” view for each lever
Engage with tier-1 suppliers to review carbon footprint data, decarbonization plans, and sustainability commitments (in particular SBTi commitment), facilitate transparent discussions with suppliers to co-develop fact-based decarbonization glidepaths, driving mutual commitment to reducing emissions while supporting negotiation and monitor supplier commitments to ensure the implementation of decarbonization actions in line with agreed milestones and targets
Build and maintain comprehensive databases for supplier carbon emissions, decarbonization progress, and cost implications, develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms to track decarbonization and the development of other sustainability indicators’ performance and identify areas for continuous improvement while preparing regular reports for senior management on the status of decarbonization initiatives, progress against targets, and cost-benefit analysis
