The Research Scientist conducts research projects investigating fundamental scientific and conceptual problems with the goal of breaking new ground which could lead to new inventions, new or enhanced products, or new business or market opportunities by disruptive and innovative solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Researcher with expertise and experience in the Industrial Automation Pyramid space to join our team. This includes digitalization software for OT, exposure to AI applied to OT systems, and understanding the needs and the direction in the space to address challenges in Industrial Automation for Industry 4.0 and beyond.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
As part of our team, you will:
Conduct research to identify creative and innovative ways to tackle challenges in Industrial Automation using emerging technologies
Analyze and understand existing industrial processes, methodologies, and systems to propose novel solutions
Work on the development of intellectual property (IP), including patents, in the automation domain
Be Exposed to Generative AI, AI, ML, LLMs, and NLP in development efforts to enhance automation processes
Collaborate on emulating factory processes through digital twins and non-digital twins for research purposes
Explore and integrate Industrial Open Communication Platforms, such as OPC UA, into research and solutions
Develop technical papers, research documentation, and patent applications to support and communicate findings
Qualifications
Your skills and experience
Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant field such as Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
Desire to collaborate with a globally disperse team and possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to drive, influence, and implement new ideas
Strong knowledge of the Automation Pyramid, including an understanding of the field level, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and PIDs (Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controllers).
Deep understanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, Planning Systems, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Exposure to Generative AI, AI, ML, LLMs, and NLP to drive innovation in industrial automation is a plus
Familiarity with Industrial Open Communication Platforms like OPC UA is highly desirable.
Experience with digital twin and non-digital twin technologies for simulating and emulating factory processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify gaps in current methodologies and propose innovative solutions
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to author technical papers, research reports, and patent applications
A background in developing intellectual property (IP), including patents, is a significant advantage
Experience in OT software systems and digitalization of OT systems. Knowledge of IT/OT integration is a plus
