What do we do?

Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, supports EU Member States and Schengen-associated countries in the management of the EU’s external borders and the fight against cross-border crime.

Frontex is a centre of excellence for border control activities at the EU’s external borders, sharing intelligence and expertise with all Member States and with neighbouring non-EU countries affected by migratory trends and cross-border crime.

With the standing corps, the European Union’s first uniformed law enforcement service, Frontex has transformed into an operational arm of the EU.

Hundreds of officers are taking part in operations at the external borders of the European Union and beyond. They perform a variety of tasks such as border surveillance, fighting cross-border crime, and assisting in return operations. The officers stand together with national authorities to safeguard the Schengen Area, one of Europe’s greatest achievements.

  • Where do we work?​
Our headquarters are in the capital of Poland, Warsaw, in a Class-A office complex that opened in January 2015.

Preparations are already under way to build Frontex’s permanent premises on a 2.9-hectare plot; according to the preliminary timeline, the new headquarters will be completed at the end of 2028.

In addition to our Warsaw headquarters, where the vast majority of positions are based, Frontex maintains small offices in Catania (Italy) and Athens (Greece) and a small liaison office in Brussels.
  • Our recruitment process​

  1. Depending on the vacancy notice, you will need to make sure you are eligible based on the criteria listed.

  2. Complete the application by providing detailed information on your education, professional experience, language skills, technical skills, knowledge and competencies, and references.

  3. Candidates deemed as the most qualified by the selection committee will be called for interviews (and sometimes written tests) in accordance with the corresponding vacancy notice.

  4. After conducting the interviews, the selection committee creates a reserve list with the successful candidates. This list is used to cover both existing and future positions that are similar.
